A masterpiece of dark comedy, August: Osage County is a play by Tracy Letts which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2008, been nominated for 3 Outer Circle Critics Awards and was named the best play of 2007 by Entertainment Weekly as well as by Time Magazine.The characters in August: Osage County include Beverly Weston, ex-poet and alcohol addict, his wife Violet - a narcotics addict, their first-born daughter Barbara Fordham, her sister Ivy who is conducting an illicit affair with her cousin, Little Charles. There is another Weston sister, Karen, whose fiancé Steve Heidebrecht is less than perfect; and Barbara’s unfaithful husband Bill and unmanageable daughter Jean. The other characters are the unpleasant Mattie Fae (Violet's sister), her husband Charlie Aiken, the invaluable Cheyenne housekeeper Johnna Monevata and Sheriff Deon Gilbeau, Barbara’s old high school classmate. August: Osage County is directed by Anna D.
