Gypsy

Gypsy, starring the popular Tony Award winner Patti LuPone of Evita fame, and directed by Sam Mendes, is set against a vaudeville background, featuring Rose, a ruthless stage mother who travels across the country with June and Louise, her daughters, and their manager Herbie. The show is loosely based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee. The book of Gypsy is by Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Jerome Robbins' dances are choreographed beautifully by Jerry Mitchell. Gypsy’s scenic designs are by James Youmans; costumes, lighting and sound by Martin Pakledinaz, Howell Binkley and Dan Moses Schreier respectively.Gypsy is a powerful, dramatic tale that plays on our emotions; a musical that is essentially about people, with the interesting dynamics of the tumultuous relationships between the girls and their mother. There are wonderful songs in Gypsy, including ‘Everything's Coming Up Roses’, ‘Rose's Turn’ and ‘Some People’. This is a great show, well worth seeing, so get your tickets soon. Gypsy is playing at the St. James Theatre on Broadway on Mondays to Saturdays at 8 pm, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2 pm. The duration of Gypsy is about three hours, including a fifteen minute interval. Book your tickets online at www.TicketsInSeconds.com as soon as possible to get the best seats in the house!
