Lord of the Dance

The Lord of the Dance, described by the Los Angeles Times “as a show piece extravagance” is a decade old musical and dance show that still mesmerizes and fascinates its viewers around the globe. It is considered to be one of the world’s greatest dance shows and tells a story in motion. Lord of the Dance is the brain child of Michael Flatley, an Irish American dancer. He conceptualized, choreographed and produced the show making it a spectacular success. The music for the show was created by Ronan Hardiman. The show first hit the stage on July 2, 1996 with a story that revolved round the Lord of the Dance and his fight against the evil dark Lord, Don Dorcha who is after the Planet Ireland. The Lord of the Dance is eventually victorious and successfully eliminates the dark lord with the help of a little spirit. This show danced into the hearts of the people at the Oscars in March 1997 and extended its operations by forming several dancing troupes that performed in North America and Europe. At present there are four troupes performing around the world. The show is moving on to its eleventh year and is still one of the number one music shows of the world.
