Legendary opera diva Montserrat Caballe and irrefutable queen of the Belcanto turns 75 years old this year. Montserrat Caballe has organized a series of concerts to celebrate this event starting in Freilichtbühne - Augsburg, Germany and ending in Archäologischer Park Xanten, which is also in Germany. Best known for her performances and roles in Rossini, Bellini, and Donizetti operas, Montserrat Caballe has since, won over millions of fans worldwide. Her wonderful voice, breath control and exquisite pianissimos has seen her feature in more than 90 opera roles in her career as well as notching nearly 4000 stage performances. There is no doubt that Montserrat Caballe is amongst one of the greatest singers in history. In 1953, Montserrat Caballe performed her professional debut as Mimi in Basel, Switzerland. However, she got her worldwide acclaim in 1956 as Lucrezia Borgia after New York’s Carnegie Hall performance. She later cancelled several performances between 1965-1974 due to illness and operations. She performed in the debut of Cristobal Colon as Queen Isabella during 1974-1983 and sang at the Barcelona Olympics Opening Ceremony in 1986.
