Texas Rangers
The Texas Rangers from Arlington, Texas, belong to major league baseball’s American League, playing in the Western Division. The name of the team is derived from the law enforcement Rangers. The Texas Rangers were founded in Washington, D.C. – they were then called the Washington Senators – not the Washington Senators who went on to become the Minnesota Twins. The team became the Texas Rangers when they came to Arlington in 1972. The Texas Rangers have the unenviable distinction of being one of the only four teams in major league baseball who have never played in a World Series game, having never won a league championship. The Texas Rangers play at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlingotn, a unique 270-acre complex that houses a baseball museum, a children's learning centre, an office building, a youth baseball park and a 12-acre lake. The Rangers’ spring training facility is the Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona. Rangers’ manager Nolan Ryan is managing the Rangers for the second year now, and the effect of his leadership should be felt this season. There are additions to the team - Milton Bradley, Josh Hamilton, Jason Jennings and Kazuo Fukumori so there should be some good baseball ahead.
