The New Century

The New Century is not the typical show that you would expect to find and is in fact a series of four short plays. The plays flow from various settings and characters including a Long Island mother of three gay children (Helene) to a flashy gay young man from Palm Beach (Mr. Charles) to a Midwestern woman who has a talent for crafts (Barbara Ellen). The cast includes Peter Bartlett, Jayne Houdyshell, Mike Doyle, Christy Pusz and Linda Lavin.The New Century is a hilarious set of plays written by Paul Rudnick that are totally outrageous and will keep the audience in peals of laughter. Although the show is a series of four plays, it finally comes together when all the characters meet in the comic finale as a strange sort of indication as to where we might be heading in this century. The show is staged at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater at 150 West 65 Street, from Tuesday to Saturday. There are also Sunday matinees in addition to this.
