Fayetteville is located in North Carolina near the Sandhills in the western part of the Coastal Plain region, on the Cape Fear River, roughly in the center of the state. Colleges and universities include Fayetteville State University, Methodist University, and Fayetteville Technical Community College. Popular event venues are Crown Coliseum, Reeves Auditorium, and Crown Center.
